CoCA will be taking a moment to reflect back on its rich history and has invited some of its esteemed alumni. The stunning energy of the massive creativity coalescing in one shared space of this art-marathon is awe inspiring!

The marathon and auction will happen at Elysian Fields, 542 1st Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98104. The fun event includes a Thursday night artist party that coincides with the Pioneer Square Art Walk for a behind-the-scene view for hundreds of artwalkers alongside a hosted keg of beer thanks to Elysian Brewing. For those who have witnessed previous Marathons or participated in past events, the blast of pure creative energy during the event, combined with the controlled chaos and pandemonium, makes this one of the Northwest’s premier art spectacles.

The search for gold brought many newcomers to the Pacific Northwest in the late nineteenth century. Whether on route to the Alaskan Klondike, the gold fields on tributaries of the upper Columbia River, or mines in north central and southern Idaho, prospectors came to our region with dreams of finding this precious element.
As a landscape painter in Washington state, I am also searching for gold. In 1991, I moved here from Riverside, California, a place where sunshine is abundant and summer days are bright and hot. Acclimating to the lower levels of light and colder temperature took some time and I find myself chasing golden light.
Gray Sky is participating in the Fred Hutch Obliteride by hosting a happy hour shopping event on Tuesday, August 1st from 5-8PM. The event will include paintings by artists Laura Van Horne, Corrie Ebel, Julie Devine, Terry Richardson and Anna Mihkels (who also will be selling her jewelry), clothing by Etcetera, jewelry by Ash+Ames, and lamp shades etc. from the store Prussian Blue , Artists will donate 20% of sales to the fundraiser, along with 100% of raffle tickets sales. There will be wine, snacks and live music. Please join us for this amazing event- it is for a good cause!
